100 Hours of Hardcore Minecraft

I recently watched the "100 Hours in Hardcore Minecraft" series by Scar (Scar why are your playlists so often out of order), Grian (Grian why do you not have a playlist yourself), and Joel Smallishbeans (good job Joel) that they did about a year and a half ago and I enjoyed it a lot. Some notes of my favorite parts under the cut, including some thoughts on how this fits with Life Series chronology.

- I started with Scar, who seemingly not even realizes Grian is (pretending he was) planning a solo series xD
- iirc Scar also didn't even show in his own series that he left a housewarming present of a TNT trap for both Grian and Joel
- knowing this is set between Last and Double Life makes this so much better. Of course Scar steals the enchanter! And wow this puts Grian's dread in DL of being paired with Scar again into even more context
- SCAR. Why does he build the most dangerous base in hardcore!! Scar logic. …it looks great though. Of course it does, it's Scar. And the roller coaster is very cool. But why does he decide to practice water bucket MLG in hardcore!! (...oh that is where he learned that.)
- Grian and Joel building a massive bed beneath Scar's base for his safety, aww ^^
- Scar trying to trade with and then blackmail Grian for a Feather Falling IV book even though Grian planned to gift him one from the start xD
- Jimmy visit and the Bad Boys burn down a mansion together, I didn't realize that part of Limited Life would be a throw back ^^ And Grian gets one-shot killed by a Vindicator because he gave his chestplate to Jimmy so he could wear an elytra instead, uh-oh, and instead of ending the series he decides to start over at zero.
- BigB and Scott and Lizzie all on the server for a few minutes before they die, and the only guest to survive their visit was Jimmy, of all people
- Scar made it almost fifty hours! …longer than Grian xDD
- Well, longer than Grian the first time. Grien, on the other hand, made it over 99 hours before being killed by his friends because he learned the wrong lesson from Grian's death and wore a chestplate instead of elytra and so could not fly away ^^
- Grien was so happy that Scar was back after a long absence due to surgery! …for about a minute :( Tragic.
- Joel calling his series the third favorite ^^ His castle looks fantastic.
- Joel naming his axolotls after things that are "hip and trendy": Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Beyonce, and Technoblade. Perfect.
- Joel having so much spare diamond and netherite armor and elytra lying around that when they invite their friends on the server to kill them a few hours before the end they are fully equipped xD At least they're all agreed it's entirely Joel's fault.
- I love that Joel's sword is called "I have the power of god and anime on my side." And that he used it to kill Jimmy which was a priority of his. And then he blew himself up with a TNT minecart in very stupid fashion…
- Grien almost made it to 100 hours but not quite. I am not surprised.

I watched it when it was ongoing, and it was so much fun! I think this may have been why I started watching Joel, so I watched all three POVs.

My number one favourite (if you can call it that) thing was how this was the series when Scar decided he should learn how to waterbucket MLG, and he kept doing it almost flawlessly! I remember he said in a stream at one point that he dies so much in Hermitcraft because he relaxes and lets himself be distracted, which he definitely didn't do in this series. Then again, I also love the way he died lol

Joel sacrificing Lizzie to fight the wither was also very funny, and the proximity chat made the end part with the minecart so much better XD

It's really obvious in this series (even more than 3rd Life I think) how Scar can just turn his fear on and off like a lightswitch! He has it set to perma-off in Hermitcraft, and in this series he *mostly* has it one but sometimes he forgets...

(I kind of want to see Joe Hills in a hardcore series even more now, he does a similar thing on Hermitcraft but I don't know if I believe he remembers how to turn it back on...)

Ooh, Joe Hills hardcore series could be fun. I've been thinking about checking out his Hardcore Hermits team-up with Cleo and Python. (I definitely would if I had a time machine.)

The way Scar died was perfect xD And in hindsight it makes sense too, he came back and was probably not fully back in the oops-I-actually-need-to-be-careful mode yet and paid for it immediately.

I watched Grian's recently, and I've started Scar's.

So far my favorite part has to be Scar's death. The comedy timing was so perfect and yet at least from Grian's POV I can't believe it wasn't an accident.

And gosh yes the Bad Boys was very strong! I might have to rewatch some of Limited Life after I watch Joel's POV on that.

Scar's death was perfect, agreed. Such a Scar way to go out. (Someone on Tumblr once described it as his luck being installed upside-down iirc, the things that should kill him don't and the things that don't seem dangerous will definitely kill him.)

The Bad Boys had some of my favorite moments in Limited Life (Afk Grian, "They had buttons on the floor Jimmy!" etc.), I do want to rewatch them eventually :)
