Hermit Powers
I have been spending a lot of time reading hermitblr lately now that I've mostly run out of fic and I really enjoy the shared headcanon that Hermitcraft is full of objectively terrifying powerful nonhuman legends that would all be massively OP on any other server, but on Hermitcraft everybody's just super blase about it because they no longer have a concept of normal. With possibly one or two perfectly ordinary unpowered humans just hanging out. But a lot of the Tumblr stuff that leans heavily on fanon concepts, and you don't really need that, because actual onscreen lore is already bonkers enough? And I often wildly disagree with people's idea of who the one ordinary human is, because they often pick someone who has super bonkers personal lore.
So I've been trying to put together a list of "canonical" OP origins and powers for the Hermits. But I'm only even halfway good with seasons 8,9,10, have one POV each of 6 and 7 and nothing before that, so I'm sure I'm missing stuff! (Also I'm only counting things that are in Hermitcraft videos, so Empires lore only counts if it was relevant in the crossover and lore from other series only if it's come up in Hermitcraft videos.)
- Xisuma - Doomguy. (Never takes off the armor, but often alters it for fun). Primary server admin. Only remaining original Hermicrafter. Has an evil twin.
- Bdubs - Worshiped as Sun God on a server far away. Tends to set himself up as the power behind the power, and this always works for some reason. Banishes night.
- Cub - Vex magic. De-aged himself once. Gets possessed a lot; has a history with the voices in the skulk.
- Doc - Part creeper, part descended from an ancient fallen goatpeople civilization. A God removed one of his arms to keep him from becoming too powerful, he promptly built himself a better cyborg one and is slowly adding more cyborg parts, the latest are redstone butterfly wings. Is the mouthpiece for a large hivemind that regularly breaks the laws of physics. (I'm not including the S8 lore since it was all a simulation.)
- Etho - Never takes off the mask. Has been a player since the very beginning of all the worlds. Generally treated with odd reverence by new players, at least until they meet him. Canadian (the storied Maple Prince of Canada Land??)
- False - Is the evil twin
- Gem - Has the ability to easily travel back and forth between distant worlds when other people require something like portals or spaceships. Nobody ever comments on this. Canadian.
- Hypno - ? I need to watch more Hypno
- Iskall - Cyborg of some kind (redstone eye). Leader of a system of extradimensional "vaults" that are visited by "Heralds"
- Jevin - Slime
- Keralis - ?
- Cleo - Zombie, but not like the other zombies.
- Mumbo - Ate Grian's soul to become human(?) after spending a while always transforming into whatever he ate. Has a magic moustache. Killsalot.
- Grian - Runs death games on a different server. Frequently acts as vessel/liaison for strange powers from outside the word. Makes superintelligent robots (or possibly the same one, over and over again) that have the power to destroy worlds or create rifts between them, and are obsessed with Mumbo (this pre-dates the part where Mumbo ate his soul). Compulsively presses buttons and starts rebellions. Also built a time machine once. Definitely not the superhero known as Poultry Man.
- Scar - Vex magic. Secretly a famous archery-based superhero. Partner of the only non-NPC cat in Minecraft.
- Pearl - Definitely not the deity referred to as Santa Perla on a server far away. Queen of the Dungeon.
- Impulse - Brought to Hermitcraft via a summoning ritual. The heir of a mystical chocolatier. Tends to shapeshift to match his bases, even more than other hermits.
- Ren - Dog (hybrid? furry? unclear). Had his human ears replaced by dog ears after a terrible haircutting accident. Linked to a worldspanning megacorporation called Gigacorp(tm) somehow, including access to tech and supercomputers (I do not understand this lore.) Tends to take on leadership roles, then experience dramatic and tragic personality shifts. Theater kid.
- Stress - ? I need to watch more Stress
- Tango - Some kind of fire-associated being (? unsure how much of this is official lore besides the skins). Dungeonmaster.
- Joe - Some sort of spirit held to the physical world by "chains forged in life". Currently animating a juppet. The Original New Guy.
- VintageBeef - Possibly just an empty hollow skinsuit after building and using a flawed cloning device?? Canadian (Highly placed in Big Salmon.)
- Wels - Knight. Never takes off the armor. Has an evil clone.
- xB - Has some sort of connection to Elder Guardians but I'm really unclear on if any of that is canon. Haunted by a small interdimensional trickster called Kerilson
- Skizz - Too new to be sure!
- Joel - Almost definitely not the 11-foot-tall God of Stratos from a server far away.
- Zedaph - Definitely not the superhero known as Worm Man.
What have I missed? I'm sure there's a lot.
Anyway by that list I'm pretty sure the most 100% normal human person hermit is Keralis, which seems right to me! Definitely nothing odd about Keralis.

Same!
Grian can time travel! Well he built a time machine once which definitely counts. And Iskall referred to villagers as his "family" at least once (and I think several times) so I like the idea that he is related to them.
I'd love to help more but it seems like we don't watch the same Hermits much. I also really enjoy the idea of Keralis of all people being the only "normal" one ^^

I think I actually read one eldritch hermits fic where Keralis was the "normal" one! It worked pretty well. (And honestly it makes sense to me that as the one plain human in that group you'd be the least interested in being normal.)
But I also suspect there's some pretty bonkers Keralis lore in old seasons that I have no idea about that just doesn't get brought up much because he's not one of the core group that does a lot of the main storylines. He's been on Hermitcraft a long time.
