Hey! I want to recommend DocM77's latest episode to all of you, even if he's not one of your usual POVs. Doc has always been a guy backed by a community, the legendary redstone Hive Mind, but this season, he's also been building a relationship with the fanart community through his thumbnails. We're all the right audience for a long rant about the glory of a fan community and how fast they can create things together and how incredible the results are, right? In this case, complete with references to different periods of church art, and a really cool pixel art mural going up in the perimeter. The relevant art is also on tumblr!

Doc is one of my favorites! (And the first Hermit where I went back and watched seasons all the way through.)

I will somewhat shamefacedly admit that his Decked Out runs aren't my favorite, but his episodes still are, and I love the fanart project.

Yeah, he's really cautious in Decked Out, waiting in places and revisiting the same spots for treasure. I think revisiting spots is actually the worst treasure hunting strategy, given the chance of treasure spawning anywhere in the dungeon and staying there until it despawns, but if you're afraid of ravagers...

Same for me, Doc's deck is really impressive and he does well in the dungeon but for some reason I don't enjoy his DO runs as much as those by most other Hermits. Maybe because he's so calm?, idk.

Yeah, I think it's that he responds to danger by getting very quiet and focused - which is actually pretty entertaining on Tango streams, when *Tango* is there to react - but he's not actively being entertaining the way a lot of the other Hermits are.

If he went back and added running critical commentary later like Hypno does maybe it would help?

Maybe? I think if Doc started being analytical about his DO runs (on camera) it might be in more detail than I care about ^^
Also, his explicit decision not to compete for points removes one interesting aspect of competition, I really like the conflict between buying cards and buying tomes and having to guess how many the others have etc.

Admittedly I personally still sometimes wince when he references r/hermitcraft because it's such a weird place - most of the time people pretend it's a fannish space even though everybody knows many Hermits are reading and sometimes interacting and it's just, idk, a weird atmosphere?, for someone like me who was really unused to such mixed spaces before stumbling into MCYT fandom. Just something I'll have to get used to.
